FACTS ABOUT THE 2008 TELETHON OF
STARS
TITLE: 52ND Annual Lions Club/NewsChannel
6 Telethon of Stars.
DAY/TIME: Saturday/Sunday, November 8 & 9.

LOCATION: Paducah’s EXPO Center adjacent to
The Executive Inn Riverfront, in Paducah, KY.
SPONSORS: The Paducah Lions Club and WPSD
NewsChannel 6.
Lions in each state work on fund-raising for their
particular state, and the
money donated from each state stays in that state to
benefit the local
center.
BENEFICIARY: Clients of the four centers, one
in each state. Easter Seals West Kentucky in
Paducah; T.L.C. of Southern Illinois; Community
Developmental Services
(CDS) in Martin, Tennessee; and Easter Seals
Southeast Missouri. All of the centers deal with
disabled children and adults, with CDS focusing
primarily on adults. All of the money raised by the
telethon goes directly to these centers.
DETAILS: This is primarily an entertainment
and information show, with l5 continuous hoursof
live music with features and interviews with clients
and officials of the four
centers and area Lions clubs interspersed. The
Telethon of Stars is the longest running, locally
produced Telethon in the USA and is telecast in the
80th largest DMA market in the USA (Paducah, KY-Cape
Girardeau, MO-Harrisburg/Marion, IL).

TOTALS: The Telethon of Stars has raised over
21 million dollars in the previous shows. We believe
it to be among the top telethons in per-capita
donations, and ranks as the #1 local Lions Club
fund-raising project.
